Introduction
A coordination drill that trains players to perform small body pivots while keeping torso alignment and marker orientation stable.
Key Points
- Improves rotational control of the torso.
- Reduces excessive shoulder movement during pivots.
- Teaches hip driven rotation instead of upper body twisting.
- Strengthens coordination during directional shifts.
- Supports future directional footwork drills.
Details
This drill isolates rotational movement and teaches players to pivot cleanly without disrupting upper body alignment. Players begin in a neutral stance and perform gentle pivots typically 10–30 degrees by engaging the hips while keeping shoulders level.
Rotations should not be fast or aggressive. The marker remains oriented consistently throughout the pivot. If the upper body wobbles or tilts, the pivot is reset and performed more slowly.
Practicing controlled pivots builds rotational stability and helps players develop smoother movement transitions without relying on abrupt shoulder driven twists.
This drill reinforces body awareness and stability essential for more complex rotation based movement patterns.
