Introduction
A movement-integration drill that trains players to shift direction smoothly forward, backward, or laterally without introducing upper-body drift or breaking alignment.
Key Points
- Improves stability during controlled directional changes.
- Teaches smooth foot transitions without overextension.
- Strengthens alignment under mild locomotion pressure.
- Reduces marker disruption during weight shifts.
- Prepares players for multi-direction movement drills.
Details
Players begin in a balanced stance with the marker raised. On each repetition, they shift their body one step in a chosen direction forward, backward, left, or right using controlled, hip-driven motion.
As the shift occurs, the upper body must remain level, and the marker must remain aligned with minimal sway. Beginners often lean into the direction of movement, creating torque that destabilizes the marker.
The player pauses briefly after each shift to confirm balance and alignment before returning to the neutral stance.
This drill reinforces stable directional changes and serves as foundational preparation for complex movement chains that involve multiple directional transitions.
