Introduction
A controlled drill that teaches players how to shift weight forward smoothly while maintaining stable alignment and preventing shoulder driven instability.
Key Points
- Builds controlled forward weight transfer.
- Prevents upper body overextension.
- Trains balanced hip driven motion.
- Improves stepping readiness.
- Supports movement readiness drills.
Details
Forward weight transfer is used in many movement sequences, but beginners often lean forward using their shoulders instead of their hips. This drill corrects that pattern.
Players begin in a neutral stance and gradually shift weight onto the balls of the feet not by leaning the torso, but by engaging the hips.
The marker and upper body remain level and stable throughout the shift. Players then return smoothly to neutral.
This drill reinforces posture integrity and reduces instability during transitions or directional steps.
