Introduction
A balance focused drill that trains players to shift weight laterally while maintaining upper body stability and consistent alignment.
Key Points
- Improves lateral balance awareness.
- Strengthens lower body coordination.
- Reduces unwanted upper body sway.
- Teaches smooth side to side weight transitions.
- Supports future movement and posture change drills.
Details
This drill isolates lateral weight transfer the essential component of efficient side to side movement. Players begin in a balanced stance and shift their weight slowly to the left foot, then to the right. The goal is smooth transition without abrupt leaning or collapsing.
The upper body remains centered during shifts. Any sideways tilt indicates overextension or uneven hip movement.
Players can introduce micro holds at each endpoint to reinforce control and recognize the full range of stable lateral motion.
This drill develops lower body stability and prepares players for movement patterns involving rapid side transitions, compact stance work, and bunker entry mechanics.
